Skywatch Friday

On Sunday, I looked out my front door to see a beautiful sunset punctuated with some contrails, and knew I could finally participate in Skywatch Friday. Happy Friday, everyone!

  10. I don't think I've ever seen that many in the sky at one time before! What in the world were they doing? It sure made for a fantastic photo!!!

  11. Aren't we funny-instead of seeing a gorgeous sky, we see a photo for sky watch. Been there done that!

Your sky is indeed worthy of skywatch. Thanks for sharing.

  17. Skywatch Participants,
Wow! Thanks for all the nice comments and for visiting through Skywatch! I've left comments for each of you in your own blogs. It's odd because the Ann Arbor Airport is small, generally only for personal planes (a cargo airport is nearby, so I don't think even cargo planes land there), so the various con trails were surprising, especially because the direction of the airport in vertical to the photo, not horizontal! And now to my "regular" readers...

    Cat,
The sky is even wider out west. I don't know why or how to describe it, but the sky was just SO blue and SO wide in Colorado where my niece lives!!

    Ramblin' Michelle,
Thank you! I always like your Skywatch photos and glad I finally have one!

    Beckie,
I've enjoyed your Skywatch photos and finally played along! :)

    Garden Wise Guy,
Thanks for ctaching my type. I had first written "jet trails" and later realized--wait a minute, there's another name for those. I Googled and found contrails, and indeed typed con but forgot to delete jet. Ah, the mind wanders...

    Anna,
I enjoy your desert Skywatch photos, too!

    Tina,
The photo was total coincidence. I wasn't planning to take a shot, but when I noticed the view--the sun, the sky, the contrails-- it was all right there for the snapping!

  21. When you look up and see all those contrails, don't you wonder where all those planes are going?

I can't believe you have winter sown seed sprouting already. It's gonna snow here tomorrow.

  24. Hi! You asked how far I live from Missouri Botanical Gardens - I'm about 150 miles south of St Louis where the gardens are & I have lots & lots of photos of them!!! Take a look around & let me know what you think!
    Thanks for visiting my page!

  25. Yes ma'am - a few years ago when Mr Chihuly brought his blown glass to the gardens, they decided to buy quite a few pieces - so they're there for good! I hear it's really gorgeous at night w/ the lights they have shining on the displays, I haven't seen it at night myself, though. We're planning a trip back there this spring, so maybe I'll be able to get some night photos!
